With everything we see in the news, it’s hard to be sure that store-bought products are truly safe to consume. I think we’re all on edge at this point.
As a mother of three beautiful children—and now, a soon-to-be gram gram—I’ve found myself looking at things from a whole new perspective. Yes, I’m about to embark on the journey of being someone’s grandmother! And while many people are surprised when I tell them, the truth is, I was a young mother, which means I get to be a young grandmother, too.
Once I learned I had a grandbaby on the way, something shifted in me. I wanted the very best for this little one, even if that meant making things from scratch. And today, that journey led me to homemade granola for mommy to be.
I went to my good ol' Pinterest and typed in "Granola Recipe" and I came across this one by The Toasty Kitchen. The best part? The recipe called for just five simple ingredients—ones I already had on hand. As I slid the tray into the oven, the warm, toasty aroma filled the entire house. It was incredible. All my kids came rushing in, thinking I had baked cookies!
There’s something so special about making food from scratch—knowing exactly what goes into it and seeing your loved ones enjoy it. See what I rate it below!
Here’s My Initial Scoring for This Recipe by 'The Toasty Kitchen':
Was the recipe easy to understand? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Was it simple to follow? ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐
Did it take longer or shorter than expected? ⭐⭐
➡️ It took shorter than expected to cook. The oats would have burned if I had left them in for the full 30 minutes the recipe called for.
Was it worth making? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely!
🍯 Flavor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delicious, but I might tweak it next time! (Blog post to be continued)
👨👩👧👦 Family Approval: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (My kids thought it was cookies—enough said!)
How Would I Tweak It?
I noticed that the granola was done within the first 20 minutes. All ovens are different, so make sure to check your granola to ensure it does not burn!
I can’t wait to experiment with new flavors and share more homemade goodness with you all. Have you ever made granola from scratch? Let’s chat in the comments!
